The Resignators are; Francis Harrison (vox), Ellen Morabito (trombone/flute), Dittman (trumpet/vox), Chris Solaoras (guitar/vox), Beau Karnaghan (drums) and Naf (bass) and together they are a punchy, playful often-aggressive yet chilled band.
Their Melbourne style Rock-Reggae-Ska action is hard to beat for a raucous yet soulful good time.
The Resignators bring a sound that has proven to be unheard - something new and raw. They create an eclectic collaboration of sounds by utilizing traditional rock instrumentation, and combing them with a distinct horn section to fashion an innovative collection of concepts influenced by ska and reggae beats, rock riffs and punk energy. The Resignators are pioneering the way to new concepts and are at the foot of a musical revolution.
Eager to spread their party vibe The Resignators take to the road touring extensively, building an alliance with audiences throughout Australia. Over 200 shows in their 3 1/2 years has seen The Resignators join forces with the likes of Streetlight Manifest (USA) and Dan Potthast (USA) on a national tour as well as supporting Fishbone (USA), Anti Knowhere League (USA), Crowned King (Canada) as well as a string of dates from local favourites The Porkers.
"Ska's not dead according to The Resignators, and if it is, they’re damn well going to resurrect it (after all, it's come back for three full scale revivals already, so it's really a matter of time). With no desire to buy into the gothic fashions of the current climate, or tap into the doom and gloom ascetic that continues to invade the punk scene, The Resignators mite seem a little old hat in their continued use of upstrokes and a horn section. But with the focus on writing damn great songs and delivering them with panache, this fun sextet from Melbourne are defying trends" BLUNT MAGAZINE 2007
Recording their five track Ep "Offbeat Feeling" in Brisbane in 2006 with well known producer Stuart Stuart (Veronicas/Small Mercies) led to more exposure and more shows across the country with lots of return visits to major cities. In 2008 The Resignators returned to the studio to record their debut album "TIme Decays" (MGM) with producer Kalju Tonuma (Body Jar/28 Days/The Mavis's) leading to a cracking album that continues to bring their sound to the masses through community radio ZZZ in Brisbane, 3D in Adelaide, FBI in Sydney as well as SYN, PBS, RRR in Melbourne and national broadcaster Triple J as well as through the band's MySpace site.
The Resignators are at the forefront of something grand, defining a sound and paving the way for a fourth wave of ska, before it even knows what it sounds like yet...Keep you eyes and ears peeled and whack on your dancing shoes, The Resignators are coming...
The Resignators EP "Off Beat Feeling" (Modern Music/Sony BMG) and album "Time Decays" (MGM) are available now in good music stores and through iTunes.
